Shops and Businesses in Hartington

Over the last few decades the businesses in the village have been constantly changing; a perfect example being the Beresford Tea Rooms, which within living memory has been a butchers (two separate spells), a jewellery shop, a gift shop and is now a tea room, incorporating a post office. The nearby holiday apartments of Minton House started life as a workhouse, and more recently been a grocers shop and a hotel. The Post Office has operated from several premises within the village.

Unfortunately the village has now lost its butchers and greengrocers, but still has a grocers shop, a newsagents (and general store). It still has two pubs, several garages, and various tea rooms and other shops for the tourist, including Rooke's Pottery.

There are two cash machines in the village, one operating from within the Beresford Tea Rooms and no charges are made for withdrawals from UK bank accounts.
