Hartington is well placed for climbing in the Dove and Manifold valleys. There are numerous
rock climbing locations in both valleys, on limestone rock. The crags are fairly steep and
in general the climbing starts at Very Severe grade.
Dovedale has a number of fine rock-climbing crags. These include Raven's Tor, Ilam Rock and
Pickering Tor, and Tissington Spires. For full details see the Southern Limestone
volume of the Peak Climbing Guides.

 Beeston Tor |
The Manifold Valley has fewer crags but it has probably the finest one in the area - Beeston Tor,
which has a range of high-quality routes.
Climbing is also possible on Ossam's Crag and at Thor's Cave - the latter providing mainly
artificial climbs.
